The cape… Do, undo, redo
I’m pretty confident in my red/pink colors. I love my basic color which I find both modern and bright. It is the one that is in the center of this area with three or four colors darker and as many lighter. That is my focus.
As I progress easily I realize that this will not be enough for me. It may take a rose/orange to warm up or a purple/wine lie to cool down. I add as I add the colors that will enrich my embroidery.
To be clear: I like what is complex and nuanced. I like it when the effects of materials come out. I like the movement inside a surface.
I like the movement inside a surface.
I’m always afraid of getting bored when it’s too simple, too smooth.
I know that when I attack Viviane’s dress there will be large passages of the same color, so for the cape, I let go a little by nying more subtly.
I do not feel obliged to limit myself drastically in terms of DMC references because it is a big subject that supports large palettes. I decide to add 2 colors in pink/purple.
I’m trying. I embroider everything. disappointment.
It’s not working very well. It gives a marbled effect not very interesting. I decide to undo and do it again. But what is she going to do again? Is there a single shade or area in this space that, modified, would change the effect without me 50 doing everything again?
I decide to undo and do it again.
Eureka: I think I found it. I will remove the lightest of the pink/purple and finally mix two colors already in the palette.
I would still have my material effect with a really beautiful depth effect: I love it!
In general I know absolutely what colors to use to do what. But I also want to have fun and experiment. Because I have to progress and renew my art to keep my desire and by ricochet yours.
I didn’t have to add those pink/purple. But I wanted to try. It worked for one of the two and at the same time it made me gain experience.
I’ve never been afraid to undo and do it again. I consider it part of the game from the beginning. I agree to sometimes lose a day’s work to gain skill.
